Minouk Lim
Biography
As one of the most critically acclaimed contemporary Korean artists on the international stage today, Minouk Lim (b. 1968 in Daejeon, lives and works in Seoul) is a trenchant observer of the turbulent social, economic, and political dynamics of contemporary Korean experience amid the sweep of globalization and accelerated modernity. Spanning a range of media—from drawing and assemblage to video and sculptural installation—and embracing diverse modes of expression, including text, music, and performance, her practice is distinguished by a provocative fusion of the poetic and the political. Lim’s recent solo exhibitions include Ilmin Museum of Art, Seoul (2025); Tina Kim Gallery, New York (2022); SeMA Buk Seoul Museum of Art (2021); Asia Cultural Center, Gwangju (2021), among others. She also participated in recent group exhibitions at LEEUM Museum of Art, Seoul (2025); Secession Vienna (2024); San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2024); Daejeon Museum of Art (2024); Museum Van Loon, Amsterdam (2024); Philadelphia Museum of Art (2023); Minneapolis Institute of Art (2023); Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg (2022), among others. Her works are collected by the Guggenheim Museum, New York & Abu Dhabi; Tate Modern, London; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Asia Society and Museum, New York, among others. Lim graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, France.
